Melina Sophie Philipp, a track and field athlete from the gymnastics club TSV Bayer 04 Leverkusen, secured her ticket for her first German Championship today.
With 41.28m she achieved the German standard in javelin throwing and placed herself at the top of the German best list.
We congratulate Melina and keep our fingers crossed for her at the DM
in Stuttgart at the end of July.
Dear friends of athletics,
A difficult year for athletics is coming to an end: lockdown, stadium and hall closures, restricted training, competitions only with strict requirements and limited starting fields and without spectators. Cancellation of the Hessian Championships. Yes, that was 2020.
Nevertheless, our coaches did everything they could to keep training going and to enable the children to take part in the few competitions. A big compliment also to our athletes, who never lost their enthusiasm for their sport despite major restrictions. You have shown again this year what great athletes you are.
In addition to Melina Sophie Philipp, who once again this year not only tops the Hessian best list in numerous disciplines, but is also very high up in the German rankings and sets a new district record in the javelin throw with 30.25 meters, Juliana Henrich is also finally finding her form. In the block throw, her performance in Neuwied puts her at the top in Hessian and she manages to jump to 7th place in Germany.
Our young star Carlotta Würz only just missed the district record in the triathlon, but with her 1109 points in Großostheim she managed to jump to 6th place in Germany.
Antonia Würz is trying out completely new disciplines in the shot put and javelin throw. She is ranked 11th in Germany in both disciplines. We are looking forward to her development next year.
But all the other athletes also trained very well and were able to significantly improve their performance.
Thanks also go to all parents, grandparents and everyone who supported us during this difficult time. It was another sensational year with you!
We wish you all a Merry Christmas, good health and lots of strength for the New Year.
