Schonert wins Junior DMKM in Bruchsal
After a three-year forced break due to Corona, the German All-Around Championships took place again with all participants together at the venue in Bruchsal. The organizer was the Baden Gymnastics Association, which provided the all-around athletes with the necessary competition venues. More than 700 participants fought for the title in the categories of Jahnkampf, athletics all-around, German all-around, Friesenkampf and swimming all-around.
The German Swimming Pentathlon Championships were held in the Sasch indoor swimming pool in Bruchsal. The disciplines on the programme were diving, diving and swimming.
Jannis Unger and Maurice Schonert from TV Herbornseelbach had qualified beforehand. The protégés of coach Helga Schonert completed the jump training in the Herborn outdoor pool and the Pohlheim indoor pool. The training sessions for swimming took place in the Eibelshausen and Waldgirmes indoor pools. Due to the closure of the Aquarena pool, the athletes had to travel many kilometers to the training facilities, but this was reflected in the excellent results for everyone involved.
Maurice Schonert competed for the Aartal in the junior competition in the age group of 18 and 19 year old men. Schonert's program included a 1.5 somersault forward while tucked and a head dive backward while stretched. Schonert failed his first jump, so that in the end he only received 7.642 points from the judges for his two jumps and started in third place in the overall ranking.
Schonert began to catch up in the 25 m timed diving. With 12.8 seconds (15.375 points) he achieved the fastest time of all participants. In the 100 m breaststroke the clock stopped at 1:10.2 (14.353 points). In the 50 m freestyle he was the fastest in 26.3 seconds (14.225 points) and was already in first place after 4 disciplines. After the 50 m butterfly in 29.0 seconds (14.099 points) he won the coveted title for the 3rd time with 65.694 points in the overall ranking and 9 points ahead of the runner-up.
The title fights were just as exciting for 13-year-old Jannis Unger. The Johanneum student started with a good overall performance in the diving event in the AK 12 and received 6,050 points from the judges for his forward head dive and his backward foot dive.
After the 15 m timed dive in 10.5 seconds (8.670 pts.), Unger was in fourth place overall. He fought his way to third place in the 100 m freestyle in 1:18.2 (9.188 pts.) and 50 m backstroke in 44.0 seconds (8.376 pts.). A medal was within reach.
In the end, his strength was not enough to secure the medal in the 50 m breaststroke. The Aartaler, who had just returned from a school trip, fell to fourth place despite a personal best, but was able to impress with his good overall performance and 38.919 points.
TV Herbornseelbach competed in the championships on Saturday with 7 athletes from the Aartal, who had completed intensive diving and swimming training in recent months despite the closure of the Aquarena pool.
The most successful all-rounder was Maurice Schonert, who received dream marks from the judges with 8.410 points for his 1.5 forward squat somersault and his backward head dive. With a total performance of 61.472 points, he won the gold medal in his age group and confidently qualified for the German All-Around Championships (DMKM) in Bruchsal in September.

3 gold medals for TV Herbornseelbach juniors at the swimming all-around competitions in Frankfurt Höchst
Last weekend, the indoor swimming pool in Frankfurt Höchst was the venue for the Hessian Gymnastics Association’s (HTV) swimming all-around championships for young athletes.
This year too, the athletes had to prove their versatility in the disciplines of swimming, diving and diving.
The field of participants of the multi-athletes, which also includes the Jahn fighters, the track and field athletes and the German heptathletes, remained in the double-digit range in terms of registration numbers for the first time.
TV Herbornseelbach took part in the youth championships on Saturday with three athletes in the age group of 10 and 11 years.

The youngest participant in the multi-athlete swimming event was Levi Brock from Eschenburg in the male age group 10. Thanks to his strong swimming and diving performances, he ended up in first place with 34.127 points, the best result for the Seelbachers.
His clubmate Ida Hoffmann, who competed in the female age group 11, received the best marks from the judges for her forward and backward foot jump with 4.525 points. She also secured first place in her year with 33.604 points.
Enias Ginsberg took part in the national championships for the first time. He made a good overall impression in all disciplines and was at the top of the podium in his age group at the end of the event. He achieved 20,967 points in the overall ranking.
Due to Corona, the number of participants in the multi-athlete competitions was significantly lower than at previous events.
Jannis Unger and his sister Selina from TV Herbornseelbach used the RLP Championships to check their form and to achieve the necessary qualification points for the swimming all-around competition with a view to the German All-Around Championships in Bruchsal in September.
The Jahn fighters and the multi-athletes first had to compete in the diving event at the Azur leisure pool. Selina did a forward head dive and a backward head dive and received 6.475 points from the judges. Jannis also did a forward head dive and a backward head dive (half twist). He was also awarded 6.400 points by the judges.
In the subsequent timed dive over 25 m, Selina's time stopped at 22.7 seconds (7,623 points). Her brother Jannis achieved a time of
12.0 seconds (7,095 points).
Jannis's hard work in training paid off in the swimming disciplines that were last to be competed. He swam personal bests in the 100 m freestyle, 50 m backstroke and 50 m breaststroke and secured his ticket to the German all-around championships in Bruchsal in September with 35.905 points in the overall ranking.
Selina, for whom it was the first time participating in the national championships, ultimately achieved 32,754 points in the overall ranking.

2x silver for the swimmers of TV Herbornseelbach at the 11th Sodenia Swimming Festival in Bad Soden am Taunus
After a 2-year break from competition due to Corona, the small team from the Aartal had to prove their form at the 11th Sodenia Swimming Festival in the outdoor pool in Bad Soden am Taunus.
After the TVH training pool, the Aquarena Dillenburg, was closed in December 2020, some of the swimmers had to travel to Waldgirmes for training. But the indoor pool in Eibelshausen and the outdoor pool in Herborn also provided water times.

Sina Kempf showed at the competition in Bad Soden that she is currently in good shape despite the many training breaks. She won silver in the 50 m backstroke in a new personal best. She also swam onto the podium in the 100 m freestyle and secured the bronze medal. Anton Biedenkopf showed a strong performance in the 50 m butterfly and was only beaten by his opponent by hundredths of a second. Jannis Unger secured the bronze medal in the 200 m freestyle in a strong personal best time. Newcomer Katharina Elm impressed in the backstroke, breaststroke and freestyle events, but it was not enough to make it into the top three.

Jannis Unger, Michelle and Maurice Schonert qualified in advance for the swimming pentathlons in Eutin, which consisted of diving, time diving and various swimming strokes over 100 m and 50 m. Under strict hygiene regulations that did not allow spectators and in some cases no coaches in the competition, the three multi-athletes competed for TV Herbornseelbach last weekend in the Kirsten Bruhn Bath in Eutin.
Despite a lack of training, as training was not possible from November to June due to the Corona pandemic and the closure of the Aquarena pool, the trio started in top form. Jannis Unger, Maurice and Michelle Schonert completed over 100 jumps on the diving platform of the outdoor pool in Herborn and trained swimming and diving in the 50 m pool.
At the Kirsten Bruhn Bath in Eutin, Michelle Schonert was the first of the three Herbornseelbachers to compete in the diving competition in the 16/17 female age group. The 16-year-old did a forward tucked head dive and a backward stretched head dive, which earned her 6.225 points. This put her at the top of the rankings by a clear margin and impressively proved that she was unbeatable in this discipline.
Even after the timed dive over 25 m (18.6 s), Michelle Schonert kept the lead. The 100 m freestyle, 50 m butterfly and 50 m backstroke were exciting again. In the end, the Goethe student had to admit defeat in a very close final, 0.5 points behind first place (50.658 pts) and 0.3 points behind second place (50.413 pts). She won bronze in the overall German championships with 50.084 points.
The youngest of the Seelbachers then competed in the diving. For Jannis Unger, it was the first national championships, for which he had trained a lot beforehand. This was particularly noticeable in his jumping performance. The Bickener jumped a forwards stretched foot jump and a backwards stretched foot jump, for which the jump judges gave a "6.0" in some cases. With these excellent results and 5th place in the overall ranking, Jannis Unger moved on to the diving and swimming disciplines. Despite personal best times, the Johanneum student had to admit defeat to strong competitors from North Rhine-Westphalia and Schleswig-Holstein with 36.525 points. Coach Helga Schonert was extremely satisfied with her protégé's results in his first national championships.
The last of the three Seelbachers to start was Maurice Schonert, who had already focused on winning the national championships in the AK 18/19 men's category.
Schonert received 7.875 points from the judges for his 1.5 forward somersault and his backward head dive, making his position as the favorite clear to the competition. The high school graduate therefore took first place in the overall rankings right from the start. When he finished the fastest time in the 25 m diving event with a time of 12.7 seconds, he already let the competition know that it would be difficult to catch up with him in the swimming disciplines.
With a time of 1:10.3 minutes, he finished first in the 100 m breaststroke in the subsequent swimming final. He also won the 50 m freestyle with a time of 25.5 seconds. Only in the 50 m butterfly did he finish second with a time of 28.8 seconds and 0.4 seconds behind the first-place finisher. In the overall ranking, he won his second national title with a clear score of 66.69 points, 4 points behind the second-place finisher (62.489 pts), and secured the gold medal.
